What you can and cannot do after the trial
After the Articulate 360 trial ends, your access to the authoring tools ends. In practical terms:
- You cannot edit the Rise course.
- You cannot publish a new version or download the project.
- Rise share links stop working.
- Articulate may retain course data for a period, but you should not assume you will be able to download it later.
A SCORM ZIP you already exported is different. It is a standalone package. It does not need your Articulate login to launch, and an LMS can still import it.
If you exported the course before the trial ended
You are in a workable position. The ZIP contains the course, its assets, and the manifest. You can:
- Upload it to your LMS and keep using it as-is.
- Rebrand it with SCORM Craft and download a version with your logo, colors, and author name.
- Re-export it as SCORM 1.2, SCORM 2004, AICC, xAPI, cmi5, or Web.
You do not need an active Articulate subscription to rebrand or re-export the ZIP. You only need the rights to modify the course content.
If you did not export the course
This is the hard case. SCORM Craft cannot access Articulate’s servers or recover a course that was never exported. Contact Articulate support as soon as possible and explain what happened. They may be able to advise you on the status of your data, but they are not obligated to restore download access after a trial.
If you have the original assets (images, scripts, documents), you can rebuild the course in another authoring tool. That is a content project, not a file conversion. Plan for that effort before promising a client a deadline.
How to avoid this next time
- Export a review build early, not on the last day of the trial.
- Keep the ZIP in two places and label the version and date.
- Test the package in the LMS before the trial ends.
- Save the source assets separately from the authoring tool.
- If the course is for a client, confirm who owns the Articulate account and the exported files.
A 14-day trial is enough to finish a focused course. The risk is leaving the export until the final hours, when a publishing error or an LMS issue has no time to be fixed.
Can I use a trial course commercially?
That depends on Articulate’s terms and on your rights to the content. SCORM Craft does not grant you a license to use Articulate software or to redistribute content you do not own. If you are delivering the course to a client, make sure the client owns or has licensed the content and that your use of the trial complies with Articulate’s agreement.
SCORM Craft is an independent tool. It is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by Articulate.
Frequently asked questions
Can I download my Rise course after the trial expires?
Generally no. Rise stops providing authoring and download access when the trial ends. If you did not export the package, contact Articulate support; SCORM Craft cannot recover it.
Does an exported Rise SCORM package expire?
No. A ZIP you exported is a standalone package. It does not need an Articulate login to run, although your LMS and browser requirements still apply.
Can SCORM Craft rebuild a course from screenshots or a share link?
No. SCORM Craft works from an uploaded SCORM ZIP. It cannot rebuild a course from a Rise share link or screenshots.
What if I only have the published web version?
A web export can be hosted as a standalone course, but it may not include SCORM tracking. If you need LMS reporting, you need a package with the correct manifest and runtime.
